How to create a business Instagram account?
In order to create a business Instagram account, you should have a business Facebook account. Once you do, follow these steps:
1- Create an account
Don’t ever use your personal Facebook account to create a business account.
Since this is for your business, you should use your business email address. In this case, contacts may be able to find you more easily using the “Find Friends” feature.
2- Choose your username
Now you have to choose your username and create a password, so we recommend that the username matches your business name.
Remember that you need something that distinguishes you from a personal account.
It’s important to know that Instagram will automatically generate a username for you based on the name you input. This can easily be changed when you first log in.
3- Add some posts
After you set up your business Instagram account, make sure to add a profile picture, fill the bio and post 2 pictures for your business at least!
That means you should skip the “invite friends” section and go back to it after you upload the previous things.
4- Choose you profile picture carefully
Usually it’s recommended to have your logo as a profile picture.
And remember that you should avoid the selfies or group pics.
After tapping “Add a photo,” you’ll be given a few photo import options. Do not import from Facebook; that will pull in your personal account info.
Note: Once your profile picture is uploaded, you’ll be asked if you want to save your info. You can opt to save, or you can hit “Skip” again.
5- Accounts to follow
You’ll see a page with suggested accounts to follow.
You don’t have to follow any of them – and you shouldn’t if they don’t fit your strategy.
6- Complete your profile
Tap on the profile button on the bottom right to see your account, then tap on the “Edit Your Profile” button.
This is where you complete your profile info.Fill out bio if you didn’t do that till now and contact information fields.
Be aware that this is the only place on Instagram that allows you to use a clickable URL, preferably directing people to your website.
7- Instagram business tools
Click “Try Instagram for Business Tools” and follow the self-guided steps and instructions to complete your profile and take advantage of the tools offered.
8- Link your business Facebook page
Instagram will ask you to link your business Facebook page or create one. So it’s time to do that!
9- With your posts write captions and use hashtags
Keep your caption brief and use appropriate hashtags.
Hashtags are often used in a joking way, but they are also how millions of photos are found, and in turn, your content can be found.
Also, keep the hashtags to a reasonable number. Followers don’t want to be spammed with dozens of hashtags per post.
10- Time to get social
Once you have a complete profile, it’s time to start following people so they start following you.
There are two options to do so:
- Facebook Friends
Instagram will show you all of your friends on Instagram that are in your contacts list. Start following other accounts and commenting and engaging with their posts. This is how you get people to start following you back.

- You can convert your personal profile to a business account to access features that can help you grow your business.
- With a business account, you’ll be able to access business features and Instagram Insights. These tools can help you understand who is engaging with your business on Instagram.
- You can edit your professional account’s Page, business category, and contact information directly from the Instagram app.
